    RJ Spagnols Sherry Question

Making my first sherry and a little nervous. This is the Cru Specialty Craem Style Sherry, 24502. The instructions say do not add water which yielded about 2.75 gallon in the primary. There's a 1.5 liter fpack, so with my low math skills this should come out to the 3 gallons it's supposed to. My...

    Mosti Mondiale Apricot Riesling

A couple of weeks ago I bottled a peach chardonnay from Orchard Breezin. I did the tricks I've seen here: added sugar and half the F pack up front. Finished it out, added the remaining f pack, racking, etc. Bottled it and it is delicious with a strong peach taste and smell. So I did the same...

    Vinometer

I'm going to get one of these vinometers. For $5 it's a pretty low risk purchase. I was just wondering if anyone here had tested one of these and what were your results?

I'm looking to try the OB tangerine lemon Sauvignon Blanc (14877). It just sounds delicious. Has anyone made this one?

Mosti Mondiale Alljuice Old Vine Merlot advice

I just started my first all juice with grape pack. Lots of surprises. When I opened the shipping box there was a bag on top of the MM box that I thought might have been shipped to me by mistake. It was the grape pack. For some reason I was expecting dried grapes. Okay, rookie mistake. Then I...

    crown caps and metallic taste

I use a lot of beer bottles for samplers, and because they work great on campouts. But every once in a while I open a bottle and I catch a slight metallic taste. Sometimes only on the first sip (so maybe I need to let it air a minute). Other times it seems to last. Maybe it comes from the food...

    Border Crossing with homebrew

So I have a trip planned this summer that will include crossing into Canada. I've grown real partial to my own wine now and was just wondering if I can carry my wine (my own brew in bottles) across. And of course the next question would be could I carry it back if I don't drink it all. I'm...

    Settling

I'm sure this has been covered, so I apologize. A search did not help. This is my first mead, Joe's Ancient Orange, 1 gallon jug. started it Sunday, looked at it a day. Bubbling nicely. But the bottom of the jug, probably 3-4 inches is dark indicating the honey has settled. The upper is...

    Top 10 mistakes

I wanted to share the top 10 mistakes I've made in the short time I've been doing this. But then I had to add number 11.Maybe this will help someone else. I know for me I learn best by doing. <LI style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in"...

    Riesling suggestion

So many choices... I'm ready to make a Riesling and looking for suggestion. I like the Washington Hills Riesling I bought from Specs, but it's a bit too sweet for me. So looking for something semi dry or even dry I guess. I don't mind spending a little more for a good kit.

    carboy size

Just when I thought I was getting to be an expert, I learn that the carboy I thought was 6 gallonswas actually 6-1/2. Learned this the hard way racking to a new 6 gal pet bottle. Imagine looking down and seeing my new Amerone pouring out the top...Luckily I'd sterilized my overflow box so...

    RJ Spagnols Acai Raspberry

Has anyone here made the Acai Raspberry Mist? I started one today and after noticed a lot of you are adding sugar. Sounds like a good idea. If I ran my numbers correct I need to add about 8 to 8-1/2 cups. Starting SG was 1.060. I'd like to get at least a ABV of 10% but don't want to overdo it.

    Hey from Magnolia Texas

Newbie. Been using forum for weeks for help. It is probably the best resource on web, not withstanding the help videos and articles. I started out simple, to better ensure early success. I have a VR Zinfandel bottled, waiting impatiently. In a couple of weeks I'll be bottling a MV...
