    Here's a pressing question?

Has anybody thought of or tried using a press on the grape skin bagsafter the primary? When I did my first Red Mountin Cab a couple weeks ago I squeezed the bajeebers out of it but wondered if a press wouldn't be nice for that and maybe get some more goody.... I know some of you do quite a...

    Primary predicament

"I am planning another batch - only 4 bottles left of the coconut rum half! Next batch will not be split and I'll use 2 bottles of the coconut rum. Still want to make this with the mango mint." I figured as much, it does sound good. I'm making this for my wife and a bunch of gals we'll be...

    Primary predicament

Thanks Tepe I'm not worried about the size thing, I need my bucket with spout to bottle and made the mistake of startingthe BPV in it instead of my other fermenter (10 gallon) without the spout....

    Primary predicament

Coolio I was hoping to hear something like that... I think I'll go for it. Here's a question for you vcasey, if you did another batch of the BPV would you split it again or do it all with the rum added? or without? I know it's a personal taste thing but just was curious. That...

    Primary predicament

Here's the problem... I started a BPV orchard mist on Wednesday in my 8 gallon primary bucket and is going fine. I'm a bonehead for not putting it in my ten gallon because I planned tobottle but need my bucket to do it. Would it hurt the fermentation, should I rack it to my ten gallon or...

    Skeeter Pee

Hi all I've got a batch in the carboy now and hoping to put into jugs on the 4th of July weekend. I'm looking forward to it for our weeklong camp out in the sun. I didn't have a slurry I wanted to use so made my own starter and it seems so have worked fine, boy is it yellow. I got the same...

This is what I was trying to find....thanks for the links. Beenhiking the wilderness and out of touch... Dancerman, how did you make your version? I'm thinking I'd like to try the funnel version and I can see how the wood chips could pose a problem. Any tips on the building is gladly taken...

    Cellar Craft CC enzyme?

Been out of town and out of touch.... The wine is doing nicely, still bubbling away and getting stirred daily. No sign of the white film yet but watching. I called down texas way and the enzyme packet is on the way up. Those guys do good service for sure. My "plan" was a little vague...

    Gravity wine extractor?

Hey there I seem to recall someone using a hanging glass funnel shaped flask to seperate more wine from the sediment after racking. Also didn't someone else set up a homemade version? I did a couple searches but came up empty. I'm curious how it all worked out and how I can set it up...

Hi there guys n gals Haven't been writing much here but have been getting started on wine making. Two "boys" are happy and full and just started my Red Mountin Cab. In reading the new thread about grape packs (very cool idea) and the enzyme questions reminded me. My CC kit had the notice...

    Brew belt or ?

Hi there guys-n-gals So I'm looking to order up a brew belt but of course see the warnings on using them on glass, I'm guessing this may be an old question about using them on the carboys. Is there any threads I should read on this? Have many of you used them on the glass? and I'm...

    Any thoughts on a firsty?

Red Mountin Cab was a no brainer - been to a few wineries down there. Also got the vn Caberlot.... I know, but I couldn't resist the sale price for starter and figured I need a base line... I do have a couple Mexican made 6 gallons and a couple 5's already waiting to get started with... 1...

    Any thoughts on a firsty?

Thanks everybody for the tips... finally got my order into George today. There are soooo many kits to choose from, I can see why this can easily become an obsession, addiction or just down right serious life passion. I like the suggestion of wild duk's to add like wine to top off, is this a...

    Any thoughts on a firsty?

Thanks vcasey I should correct myself, I was looking at the Renascence kits. Any idea how they might compare to the CC premiums? Any favorites on the Mosti Reds? or the CCs? I don't think 6 months or longer will be too hard for wait time....

    Any thoughts on a firsty?

Thanks guys, I do find myselflooking at the Cellar Craft more often than others but also wonder about some of the smaller kits. Do the grape packs make it really any harder? I imagine the wine is better with them.. Wade you've read my mind on getting the reds going...thats why I'm ordering...
