Wondering what sulfite test is most recommended & what is the best test for finished wine alcohol content are the alcohol refractometer accurate or are there more accurate test.

I had a strong alcohol taste is some 30 gal of blackberry & blueberry last year & added a bit of water when bottling in mellowed out nicely but I feel there was more than the expected 12% (measured as the potential)in the origional. Guess I'm in need of a good crosscheck.

I'll get some vineyard pictures out.

You could use a Vinometer to test your final ABV but it will not give you an accurate reading if the wine has any residual sugar.

We have had quite a bit of discussion on testing sulfite and I would suggest reading through some the posts in the Chemicals and Testingsection.

All,

I have now recieved my chemicals for the sulfite titrations and the standardization of the iodine solution. I will work on this as I have time and will post my findings.
