Hi All,

I tried searching for this topic but ran dry on what I'm really
looking for. I want a great Port kit but not exactly sure
the WE kit is the one. Not sure it isn't either.

Has anyone made the RJ Spagnols kits. I can't tell if it's 12ltrs of juice and makes 12 ltrs or is 7.5 and makes 12.

Are there other kits that you might suggest?

Hmm...AAA, I think the foil hats in TX would only cook the rest of the brains I have!

I'm not sure I'm ready for this. Looks interesting but Poly would have to travel here to help.

Sorry it's not a kit, if I were you I would call George and ask him, he
commented once about how good the New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon
Blanc was and my second batch is almost ready to bottle, everyone loves
the stuff!!

George is waiting for your call...lol...866-417-1114

So, if I'm not mistaken, the New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon
Blanc kit is a wine kit not a Port</span> </span>kit.

Ok guys/gals, I'm sure there are some opinions on Port</span>. Did I not ask the question right?

I'm certainly going to talk with George about his opinion and the purchase but I was wanting some opinions on Port</span> Kits.

I'm trying to figure out what the RJSpagnols port kits original volume is and if it's any good. Plus I wouldn't mind looking at WE but wanted to hear some ya's or nay's.

I know Waldo made a port</span> kit...have you sampled it? Any insight guys?

Doug

I've made the WE port kit, and from all the reaction I got this Xmas from family and friends who have tried it, I'm going to pick up another of the WE kits. I might try the RJS port kit too, but the extreme success of this one makes it hard to try others. This is a port kit in a Ruby style of port that is loads better than Taylor Fladgate ruby ports. It tastes good even before aging!

Hi All,

So I was going to have George order the RJSpagnols kit for me
since it was a 12ltr juice kit and I figured a non concentrated kit
might be better. Well anyhow, the instructions say to add a liter
of Brandy.

I know for a fact that I don't want a real liqour tasting
port. I'm sure there is a name for it other than just
fortified...maybe not. I don't really want a fortified
port.

So, I sampled a the WE port that had sugur fed to it for a 18%
alc. It was perfect. It's exactly what I
wanted.

So, thanks for the input, and I'll let you know how my first port goes.!

I have a question about port kits. Actually, it's a question about the dessert wines in general. Is there anything that would keep me from combining 2 of the 3 gallon kits (of the same type) to create a single 6 gallon batch? This, of course, would allow me to make port, sherry, whatever, with the equipment that I've got. Your thoughts?

Yep, quite a number of people I know combine them to do 6 gallons at a time! I have a selection of 1/2 bottles, and afew3gallon carboys, so I still get 30 bottles with a small kit anyways.

You probably need only one of the yeast packets though. The dried yeast is
just to get started. Theoretically you could go with just a single grain

How are you going to get yeast to multiply if you've only got one of them?!?

Actually, I think Tim Vandergrift (on another forum) has recommended to use both yeast packets when doubling up the WE port kits.
