When I picked up corks to bottle my Petite Verdot last fall, I was told at the LHBS that they now don’t recommend sanitizing corks with anything. If I recall correctly, the thinking had something to do with the potential for too much moisture in the cork. The idea made me a little nervous...

I soak tubes and slosh starsan in buckets and carboy but spray other surfaces before and during racking, sampling, bottling etc. It’s been working for me.

I use distilled water and store my solution in a one gallon plastic Heinz vinegar jug. It can keep for months with no issues. I generally use it to refill my little spray bottle.
