Other Summer heat vs. kit/yeast/juice shipping.

Regardless of Omaha's brevity for summer temps the items are exposed to higher summer temps elsewhere while shipped from packager to seller and then from seller to customer... I know, I know, it was tongue in cheek GaDawg. Not sure why I responded to that particular post when there was an...

Other Summer heat vs. kit/yeast/juice shipping.

How many of you do your on-line kit purchasing in such a way as to avoid the summer heat? I purchase my hops and yeast for the year in late spring before it gets hot. The idea of them sitting in non-air conditioned terminals, in hot trucks and then finally on a hot delivery van all day...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

As a guess, a 5 oz. glass of this has about a yummy number of carbs. Simply yummy, I'd guess. I'm no nutritionist but I'm pretty sure that's close.

    What R you doing today?

What am I doing today? Played with and took care of my 2 year old granddaughter from 0600 till 0900 when i went to work. Worked till 2000. Home. Field stripped and cleaned up a Glock that was half full of lint. Put together a wine rack while having a glass, ok, two glasses of Malbec. Now...

Pinot kit, 4 days in primary and gravity less than 1.0...

Ok, and thank you. ...I'd say the drop in the gravity over 4 days might be secondary to my main concern, however, and that would be the open fermenter while gravity so low AND stirring it while such! I did edit the OP to help drive my main concern here, being that it was stirred (twice) AND...

Nice looking place. The first thing I noticed was a bit of non-shaded grounds for grapes!

    What I use to strain

Old thread resurrection! Arise ye, old thread! Arise! ...Unless they are brewers in which case they likely have several different sizes of mesh bags to keep hops or hop pellets (or other additives) from clogging pumps, chillers, etc, and very likely realized this use for grape skins/fruit...

Black cherry juice in a pinot kit...

If a guy added black cherry juice to the tune of 20 oz (not concentrate, just straight juice, no added sugar or preserv's) to a 6 gal WE vitners reserve pinot noir, should he be concerned about anything such as acid, tannins, being too hot (alcohol) and/or unbalanced seeing as how the kit was...

Failed home brewer, what are my odds at succeding with fruit wine

Sulfite. Yup. Good thing I followed the damn kit directions and did not add any sulfite yet. Gave me one packet to add prior to degassing... I did buy a pound of it tho and on my next kit I have a feeling I'm gunna add a quarter tsp of it anytime I move the wine, regardless. It's under...

Failed home brewer, what are my odds at succeding with fruit wine

Thanks guys. I remember being so paranoid when I started brewing as well. However, 10 lbs of grain and an ounce or three of hops was about 20 bucks, a kit is over $60! Wineforfun, the problem is not the low gravity day four, its that the wine was not under airlock but fully exposed while...

Failed home brewer, what are my odds at succeding with fruit wine

Nice. Thank you all! I would like to say also, "wineforfun", that you just answered what was going to be my next question regarding sorbate... :h I've got another, more poignant question that revolves around my original post (OP) in another thread, but I'll ask here as it's still echoing in...
