Elderberry/Grape Twist - My Latest Wine Batch

The numbers for my berry weights came from a book of recipes that has been in reprint many many times since '72. Perhaps my pallette is not well developed, but so far, the three batches I have racked have all tast very much like the fruit I used! I realize that I may get a fuller, more fruity...

Elderberry/Grape Twist - My Latest Wine Batch

I really prefer to make my wines from fresh/frozen fruits and/or vegetables. I am looking forward to trying a pumpkin spice, and just pitched my yeast today to a Thawed Elderberry/Fresh Grapes mix. Both my previous Elderberries fermented like mad and the first is very slow in fermentation...

    Stiring Yeast or Not

    Too soon to rack?

It is tough to have the patience! I keep looking at my wines and wondering if I should rack it again, but the 3 batches I have in secondary have only been there a max of 7 days! Considering that most of what I read says secondary fermentation should be 5 to 7 weeks, I am learning the patience...

    Hi From Edmonton, Alberta

I do this for both to save a few bucks by brewing my own and to enjoy a fresh new hobby! I have four 3-gal batches under way, and it is looking to be about $3.55 a 750mL bottle right now. From the tasting I have done at wine festivals and the tasting I have done of my own underway, I am going...

a drop of 48 in one night ????

My first wine batch, 3 gallons of Elderberry, was racked to secondary in only 5 days. It dropped from 1.102 to .996. I don't know how or why. The secondary has slowed considerably in 5 days.

    My Introduction

Hello. My name is Ed and I am from Northeast PA. I recently got interested in home wine brewing, and after a few weeks of research, started my first two batches of wine on August 27th-Elderberry and Blueberry. Both of these have been racked once already. Amazingly, the Elderberry went from...
