this was practically my first kitas well. If this is your first then make sure you have all the stuff.I thought I had what I needed but it is just so useful to have an autosophon contraption, a wine thief, an sg tester, and the drill mounted degasser. Also a brew belt if your room is on the cool...

    WineXpert Montepulciano..a little stinky

It could be on the cool side but i went after it with the drill and nearly wore out a battery! I will say that there did not appear to be much gas comming off it. Is just seemed flat. I know i whipped a fair amount of air in it. I will give it some time and put the brew belt on and whip it some...

    WineXpert Montepulciano..a little stinky

I started my clearing process yesterday. The wine seemed ok. Perhaps a super tiny wiff of sulfur but hardly anything at all. I am really sensitive given the past of this wine kit. I put in the fining agents according to the instructions. Tonight there is a thick matt of something floating on...

    Lets get some grapes!

I am working with a local vinyard to get some grapes this fall. It is www.cavevineyard.com. They pick the grapes by machine and I have been told that I can go behind the machine and pick what ever is left behind. I think I could also buy some grapes if I want. This Missouri vineyard has...

Do you recall the SG? Just curious. Is yours very sweet?

I put half the f-pack in up front. I also added sugar to bring the SG up to 1.073. If I had to do it again I would put a little more of the fpack in up front. Perhaps 2/3 of it would go in day one. The wine came out rather sweet and lots of strawberry flavors.

My RJS strawberry Reisling is clear and I took a sample. This stuff is tasty! I pumped up the sugar initially and added half the flavor pack in the beginning so I wound up only sweetening with half the flavor pack. I am glad I did! This is about as sweet as I would ever want to go on anything...

    RJ Spagnols RJS Merlot

This is my first kit and early on I spilled a bit. This made it pretty difficult top off and fill a 6 gallon carboy so I decided to go get a 5 gallon carboy and finish the instructions using the smaller carboy. With this kind of responseI will use a 6 gallon carboy as in intermediate so that I...

    RJ Spagnols RJS Merlot

I am at the point when I can bottle or go for the optional racking and 10 days of aging in a fresh carboy. I only have one 5 gal carboy so if I wan to age another 10 days it will take two rackings to get this wine off the sediment. Opinions? I am drinking a small sample of thsi wine and I have...

    Viognier kits available

I have to say it was that RJS kit that caught our attention and is really the front runner at this point. At this pont if someone on this forum had reason to thing that the MM kit would be even better then I could likely be convinced. There is also a CC show case kit YakimaValley that might be...
