    Old website - mywinerecipes.com

GreenEnvy22, thank you for all the effort behind your answer. Actually, I tried the WBM as soon as the site came up empty, but nothing there panned out. I haven't tried contacting the member yet, but will. Thanks again.

    Old website - mywinerecipes.com

Winemakers, I have an unusual request I doubt anyone can satisfy but I have to try. 11-12 years ago there was a website called mywinerecipes.com with hundreds of recipes---perhaps a thousand. It was a nice resource and I've just expected it to always be there. I haven't visited it in over a...

Apple Pie Moonshine 2...are a better one.

elizajane, go to your liquor store and ask for the highest proof unflavored spirit they have. It will probably work, but just won't have the "kick" as the higher proof. Good luck p.s. (Unrelated) Thank you all for your kind words. They are much appreciated.

    How do you make wine?

Missing an Opportunity for More In-Depth Data "Doing a little industry polling for people to understand where the current market is." This statement of purpose acknowledges the poll is intended for the "industry," which is kit manufacturers/frozen bucket product suppliers/concentrate...

Duos and combinations of Similar Fruits

Gussman, post it! Never too many recipes, and yes, Old Orchard and Welch's do a good blending for their concentrates. Just have to read the labels and avoid any with Sodium Benzoate (Benzoic Acid) or Potassium Sorbate (Sorbic Acid).

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Sodium Benzoate creates benzoic acid and prevents yeast from reproducing---same as potassium sorbate. You have to read the labels in the store, not at home. However, every brand I have looked at contains it as a countermeasure to any airborne yeast or other...

    How long does K-meta last?

I agree with Treeman. I have a lot of old K-meta I use for sanitizing, using a bit more than I would if it were new, but for my wine I use newer stuff. BTW, the older stuff is good for sanitizing many things besides winemaking equipment. I use it for sanitizing kitchen sponges, counter tops...

    Sulpite question

Excerpt: Well, since you put over 40 times the amount needed for a strong dose, you have problems. If you haven't done so yet (I'm sure you did) unbottle it, pour it back and forth between 2 primaries for about a minute, then put in carboy with airlock and age it a year or two. It it still...

    How long does K-meta last?

Recommend replacing it every 18 months. Shelf life of many additives (when known) are found at http://winemaking.jackkeller.net/additives.asp.

Excerpts: Lori, I like the Wine of the Month idea. Thanks for the link and topic. Great pictures! Aransas Pass is not that far away from San Antonio, so I would recommend you consider joining the San Antonio Regional Wine Guild. We usually meet the third Sunday each month...

    Primary fermentation

@meadman77, abundant research has proven that the vast majority of people claiming sensitivity to sulfites are not, but instead are reacting to histamines in the wine. If you have asthma or COPD, you might be among the few who are really sensitive to sulfites. If you can drink most soft...

    Howdy, from Pleasanton, Texas

I thank you all for your warm welcomes. I love hanging around, but have too many deadlines, commitments and travels to really hang around regularly and never long enough to read all the posts I'd like to read. I've read many threads I wanted to jump into but know from participation in other...

Duos and combinations of Similar Fruits

@Bergmann, I think that is a very good match. And you're right about blending. It's the best way to combine separate bases because it's the only way you have control. Field blending (fermenting them together) is really something you do (I've done it more than a few times) when you're out...

Apple Pie Moonshine 2...are a better one.

@elizajane, talk to the senior person at your liquor store and ask for the highest proof neutral spirit they allow in Canada (and hope they have it in stock). It will do fine. @Thig, thank you. Word of mouth is the best advertising you don't have to pay for. I appreciate it. The actual link...

    jack keller's recipes

My original recipe is at Requested Recipe: Jalapeno Wine.. I have made this wine nine times. I entered it in four competitions and won four best of class awards (two blue ribbons, two gold medals) and stopped entering it after that. It just didn't look like it was going to win a Best of Show...
