WineXpert Winexpert adds a new kit!

Mine is at 1y1m and is fruit forward and completely drinkable. So far this one comes a good second next to my favourite Stag Leaps (1y6m). I haven't been wine making very long and was starting to feel that i couldn't make the quality i normally buy (£6-10). However with patience!! these kits...

WineXpert First white, and getting back on the horse

Viognier is also one of my favourite commercial whites and I started at the high end with the Viognier Yakima Valley Washington - Cellar Craft Showcase back in December. Only this weekend have I just pitched the Vitners reserve Viognier. When the Cellar Craft arrived I did feel disappointed...

Vineco Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand - Kenridge Showcase question

I have just bottled the Kenridge showcase NZ Sauvignon Blanc and have a few questions for anyone who's made this wine 1. I noticed on the vineco website that this was classed as an early drinker. Any thoughts on when this might peak and will it last a couple of years? 2. Is the winexpert...

New to WM but not to Wine. How good can I make it?

Hmm, I've been reading this thread with great interest. My wife and I enjoy fairly fruit forward commercial reds where we can taste the blackberry or black cherry and other fruits that you typically find with a good bottle of red around 13-15 dollar range. We’ve only been making red kits for the...

    Other PET Carboys

Hi I’ve been reading back through the forums on this excellent site and although quite a bit has been written on the PET and glass carboys in the past I was just wondering if those using PET carboys for wine kits have anything new to add in regard to my following question. Which is… I have...

    Greeting from Winnipeg Newbies!

Hi Jocelyn, i agree with Pam that you should try Skeeter Pee or Dragons Blood. Saving money on these helps me save for the higher end kits which can taste amazing. The higher end kits often need extra ageing in the carboy, just make sure there's only a small amount of head-space for oxygen if...

    Wine room upgrade

All done! and ive put up an end rack for ageing before moving to the main racks. Minor jobs left to do is insulate the window with Celotex Insulation Board to stop the sunlight coming in and hopefully keep the temperature down in the summer, change the lighting and put up some wine themed pictures

    Wine room upgrade

Well i've been making wine for a year now and feel quietly confident that this hobby is here to stay (completely hooked :)). I've therefore decided to give the current wine room an upgrade in the next couple of weeks i have off work. So here's the current picture of the room. The angle makes it...
