Thanks, I strapped my temp controller on the side under a rolled up scrap of tshirt and have it at 70 now. It has cleared a lot the top third is perfect the rest a little hazy still.
I will leave it 20 days.
Thanks again
Update....it has been two weeks and has not cleared much since the photo above. I put the brew belt on yesterday morning and it is clearing again.
Is it OK to leave the belt on while it finishes clearing? I say about a week then I will rack to bulk age.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Thanks for the reply I was concerned about it sitting on the sediment. But if its no worry to let it go another month, I'll leave it be. I may move it under the staircase. It is a little cooler there.
Thank you
Hello everyone,
I am in the clearing stage of this kit. Degassed pretty good and plan on bulk aging before bottling. Couple questions on the clearing that is happening and possible bulk aging.
This has been clearing for about 14 days. The instructions say to let it clear for about 20-22 days...
Thanks! yup completely degassed bulk aged for a month and just bottled a couple days ago. I am going to forget about it until a sunny day. (hopefully in another month...:dg
Hi All,
Just an update, its been two weeks, getting a little better, still harsh. I decided to bottle it last night. It looks so prefect in the bottle I am not going to give up on it!
I followed the DB recipe to the letter. Color is great, cleared great, sweetened to just a tad under 1.010 (took about 7 cups sugar) as the recipe states yesterday. Took a little sip with ice last night and a little straight from the thief just now. So the flavor as it sits now is just kinda I'd...
OK here's the update
2 gallons are already consumed so very safe to say a batch will not be around more than 3 months. I am going to stick with starting with spring water and using the jugs.
Tastes like a lemony resiling big hit with everyone so far
I will do a sample half gallon and see how it turns out. I'll divide the rest in gallon glass and regular bottles for the time being.
Would like to see what happens 6 months in the milk jug
So I have my first batch of SP in the secondary and got a mouthful while racking ...yeasty..acidy but I can tell it's gonna be good after sweetening.
so I am already thinking about my next batch (cranberry lime) to prep for summer.
What is the consensus on storing SP in plastic milk...
