Port/Distilled Spirits

Good Evening All.

I am looking for a distilled spirit to fortify a port I am thinking of making. I am thinking Brandy or Everclear. Can anyone recommend a website to purchase in bulk or at least gallons?

I don't think you can buy it on line. Depending on the kind of port you are making determines what you want to buy. Perhaps a flavored Brandy to enhance the port you're making or just a cheap vodka at 45%abv. Everclear is a bit harsh A cheap vodka can be enhanced by running it through a Brita filter twice. That would work with Everclear also but the high abv might melt the plastic.

I like using everclear but there is a process you must follow prior to adding it for the best proper flavor

Dan you are correct - stay away from plastics when using high proof alcohol !!
They do make distillers grade activated carbon - similar to the brita filter system you talked about

I prefer brandy, but everclear would be the cheapest way to go.
