So I bottled my last kit of Coastal Red in March of 2012. Since then I've greatly enjoyed how it's aged and it's become my favorite wine to drink and bring to parties. Sadly I'm down to 8 bottles soooooo.

Time to start a new batch!

This time I plan to make a change. I think I will bottle 20 full sized bottles and 20 splits. I should be able to enjoy it much longer without having to open a full bottle when it's just me. I'm also going to go with a higher quality cork. I've had some problems with some of my corks on opening for some reason.

Anyone else have experience with splits?

Spree, what was the nature of the problem that you had with your corks? I have not bottled a lot of wine in splits but I have not had a problem with corks. I use an Italian floor corker with #9 by 1.75" corks.

I had multiple bottles that had corks disintegrate or break apart on opening. Those same bottles had wine that went bad.
