    My labels, please don't laugh:)

Cindy, I love all of your labels and you are obviously a very talented lady. Honestly, though, the Dragons Blood is cussing it's head off at me. Maybe it's just too busy with to many elements, dark colors, heavy contrast going on. I know this is not an art forum, and I'm not trying to get crazy...

    My labels, please don't laugh:)

Very cool. It looks like it should be a Halloween vintage.

    My labels, please don't laugh:)

I love the Neuschwanstein Castle. One of my favorites is this pic which may be too dark for a wine label, and I have a feeling the moonrise is probably a "photoshop", but a favorite of mine all the same.

I agree with TonyP. The Berry Stinger is awesome. Very unique.

    Sports and schools

We look for answers to some of life's most gripping tragedies, and sometimes we just come up empty. Why a kid jumps off a bridge, why do kids bring guns to school? 37 years ago one of my best friends got up and apparently just decided to take a walk into Lake Michigan. No note, no nothing. The...

    Cheap Wine

Charlie Shaw did something I'm not happy about. Their Chardonnay has changed drastically and not for the good. For years my wife and I have loved this cheap but very good, dry Chard. Picked one up the other day and noticed there was no year on the bottle. I don't ever remember having a bottle of...

Blending with Merlot and White Zinfindel

Last week I blended a Charles Shaw Cabernet Sauvignon and a Sauvignon Blanc. I just added the red a little at a time until it looked good. It looked awesome. It took on a fabulous color and as clear as a bell. It just didn't taste like anything. As both of the wines were dry wines I may have...

Limited wine storage space what do you do?

Joe, are those milk crates stacked in the shelves from Sam's Club? That's an awesome idea and seem ideal for my limited space. I live in a condo and the only place I'll have to store is in my storage crib in the basement (once I clear out the junk).

    Hello From Maryland:)

Welcome Cindy. My "handle" is JSPL but my name is Jim. I'm also new to winemaking. So new, in fact, that I haven't made my first attempt yet. Been on the board for a week and one thing I can say is you found the right place. Folks here are so nice and very helpful. I get such a charge out of...

    Did someone annoy Google?

Google serps often times fluctuate, especially when making changes as Sammyk referenced. I just checked 5:30pm Chicago time and www.winemakingtalk.com/ is number one while www.winemakingtalk.com/forum/f5/ (the beginners forum) is in the number two spot.

    Gluten in wine?

My son was born allergic to literally everything. We almost lost him and had to have him on a 5 day rotation diet. Wheat in product meant no more wheat for five more days. Same with sugars, fruits, vegetables, meats, you name it. Today he's outgrown it all and is healthy (and big) as an Ox. Lord...

    Hi from Connecticut

Welcome! And thanks for the advice. I'll remember to buy a pair of safety glasses, or maybe a catchers mask when I pickup my first winemaking kit. Heck, might as well get some steel-toe boots and a full blown bio-hazard suite as well.

    Salt

When you get a craving for salt it's your body saying you're developing a sodium deficiency. Time to go to McDonalds and get some french fries. I get that kind of craving for wine 2-3 times a day when I develop too much blood in my alcohol system. ;-)

    Gluten in wine?

JohnT, gluten is bad for people with a chronic digestive disorder called celiac disease. It can cause people with celiac great distress and damage to the small intestine. According to some studies 1 in 133 Americans suffer from celiac disease. Teaser, that's a very interesting question. I...
