    REVIEW: *allinonewinepump*

Great product! I can't believe every winemaker doesn't have one. I was one of the early customers when it came with the rubber carboy cap (orange) that didn't work so well. After talking to Steve, I've since gotten the one that fits in the carboy, and had to get a new vacuum valve, but other...

    Had a great bottling day

Thanks Steve, Yes, I made the two on the right. Of course the two on the left are from the Winexpert Limited Edition kits from this spring.

    Had a great bottling day

I'm always amazed with the All in One Wine Pump. I can't imagine how I would fill all those bottles without it. I know I used to do it the old way, but I'm glad I don't have to any more.

Should I top this off further?

Elmer, you may want to think about lowering your carboy handle to the lower ridge on the neck. I've seen them slip off where yours is. I'm just saying.....

Sold my house....Oh CRAP! Now what?

I got moved last weekend without any casualties. I taped a layer of bubble wrap around each carboy, used solid bungs held in with shrink wrap. I put all of the full bottles upside down in cases, but didn't want to store them that way, so I finally got one of the stainless steel shelves 168...

Sold my house....Oh CRAP! Now what?

Great advice everyone, and thank you. I too like the milk crate idea. I'm moving across town, less than 10 miles, so I think I'll put solid bungs with duct tape in the carboys, and then in milk crates in the back of my pick up. I think that's the best and safest solution. Thanks again for...

Sold my house....Oh CRAP! Now what?

So, my house has been on the market since May of 2012 with minimal interest, that is until about 3 weeks ago. We accepted an offer and need to be out of here by Mar. 6th. You'd think I'd be ecstatic, however, not taking into account where I'm going to live, I look in my basement at the 14...

    Niagara/Concord blend suggestions needed please

I decided to make this my Christmas wine. Since its not a red, and not a blush, I called it Rosé Cheeks. I wish I had some daylight to help make the color more clear.

    Where to get bottles?

I get mine for free from my local winery. They give them away in their tasting room. Also I have a friend that owns a bar/restaurant and get some from him as well.

    Niagara/Concord blend suggestions needed please

I ended up blending 75% niagara, and 25% concord. It has a very nice flavor and is not quite as sweet as the concord alone. I ended up with 8 gallons, so I bottled 2 gallons as tester bottles or maybe Christmas presents. This way I can be sure I don't want it any sweeter before I commit to...

    Niagara/Concord blend suggestions needed please

Thanks for the input guys. Dan, I understand that ultimately it is my decision alone, and through trial and error I will be able to find the correct balance that works for me. This is the first "blending" I've done, so I was just curious what others doing with these two wines to make their own...

    Niagara/Concord blend suggestions needed please

I've got a concord that I bottled in August of 2012. I also have a Niagara that has been very sluggish in clearing, but is finally almost there. I want to make a blush blend with Niagara being the more dominant and add some Concord for added flavor. In my early testing, I'm leaning towards...

    First MLF

The cost per test is really reasonable, so, it only makes sense to do it the right way. I also got a Vinmetrica SC-300 with hopes of making better wine. It's all about having the right tools for the job.

    First MLF

Thanks Mike. I'll get after it tomorrow.

    First MLF

Two weeks into MLF and it looks to be on the right track. I've kept the wine at 72 degrees for all of the 2 weeks, and I'm still getting bubbles in the neck of the carboys How long should I wait before I add the Kmeta to stop it? The first 3 samples are the reds I'm doing this year. The...

I have the Vinmetrica SC-300. Very nice and easy to use unit.

    First MLF

This year I started 6 gallons of each Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, and Merlot. Alcohol fermentation has just completed, so tonight I bought and added Viniflora Oneos MLF bacteria. I haven't been able to find any instructions other than you just add it directly to the wine. I believe I have read...

    Entered my first AWS competition

Our local winery sponsored an American Wine Society competition today. I've only been making wine for 2 years, and wasn't going to enter, however I was strongly persuaded that I should, so I decided to enter 5 bottles. I only entered wine I made from juice or fruit and no kits. There were 70...

    Juice pail started without me!

Sorry about your volcano. I added about 4-6 oz of toasted oak chips to the carboy during the aging that I bought at my local wine making shop. It has a nice oak/vanilla flavor that should get better in a year or so. I call this my Wild Beast Zin. The California Chianti juice I got last year...
