    i've got alexander's reisling, gewurtz, and merlot all started. i made a gallon and half because anything under that ended up being to high of a s.g for me.the reisling is coming along good. the gewurtz and merlot smell great and are starting to clear.

    I made the mistake of shooting something *not chopped* down with *not two* barrels and using 3in mag in with *not a pistol* grip. i had a bruised hand for like a month and i almost dropped it when i pulled both triggers.

    When do you first "taste" your wine?

    tasting is important in my world. sometimes, a lot of times really, i cant smell for anything so being able to taste helps. especially for sweetening or adjusting acid to my taste.

    acid test kit. i tried for awhile without one now that i use one i can taste the difference. maybe a sulfite test kit too if he has the money. some glass marbles or some smaller jugs cause i know i had a ton of problems siphoning when i started... even with the auto siphon and i would come up...

    hmm... i dont know about the coffee. i think it would be easier to just crush up caffeine pills and dump them in when back sweetening. wouldn't the coffee leave a bitter after taste? are you looking for short term creation or long term? cause short term i would just go buy a bottle of cheap red...
