Did you create all 3 of those pictured? If so do you have a materials list for the one in the back? I've always wanted to make a rack like that but don't have anything to use as a template.
I would go with a floor corker, the bottle filler Tom posted the video of, and a vac pump that wade mentioned. If you don't invest in the pump you'll want to get a quality degassing wand.
More carboys also, bulk ageing will be your friend.
Oh and BrewTrax... great software!
That is an interesting read. I think we are fine since all the wine that is in current batches are under air lock and did not come in contact with any chlorine and it will have been 3 full days since the bleach was present before any of the air locks are removed. Plus we have good ventalation...
Thanks... I wasn't planning on lifting carboys anymore either thats why I took the handles off!... Oh well, lesson learned.
The problem now is the basment has a little bit of an odor... kinda musty... Any chance it will go away on its own? We mopped the whole floor down with bleach water...
I've carried full carboys by the handle only. The glass is very thick in the area where the handle goes on... Again the only reason this happened was because my father in law had placed the handle on the carboy and did not fully tighten it and didn't warn me before I picked it up that it needed...
Thanks Dan, I was very lucky. I think what saved me was the carboy did not shatter when it first hit the floor. It hit on the bottom edge and if it had shattered at that point I probably would have been sprayed with glass and wine. However the glass held until it fell on its side, at that time...
After making wine for over a year now which included making about 13+ kits... one accident isn't so bad....
Not to mention the only reason we were moving the carboy's was to replace the top of the work bench because the 2x8s were warped a little so we wanted to go with some plywood.
My...
No, the Estate Series that is pictured is the Lodi Old Vine Zin and is our first stab at an Estate series. The lost batch was a Selection Orginal Series... In all we lost $136USD between the kit and the smashed carboy.
BTW I picked up BrewTrax this weekend. I have to say I'm a big fan. I can't wait to see the upcoming revsions...
Unfortunatly I'll be using the function for loss of a batch... Reason for not finished is clear in my other post: http://www.winemakingtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12422
My cellar is on the other side of the wall from my home automation system which has a Windows server running 24x7. So I could wire a hand held or wall mounted scanner on the wall by the door and just scan it out as I walk out.
