I get annoyed when people drink big chunk of my wine?

I sure get that and hope that some day I might learn enough from guys like Rice Guy to make a really fine wine. At this point however I am on the “sometimes not so well” side of things. I feel blessed when I have friends come and lift a glass with me. “That’s my point” I make the wine and I...

I get annoyed when people drink big chunk of my wine?

I understood the scripture was about saving the best for last. Parable Old Testament vs New Testament. Not so much about wine as about religion “Old Testament” vs relationship “New Testament”. I’m just giving a humble opinion but I bet there are many opinions out there. No argument from me-...

I get annoyed when people drink big chunk of my wine?

My opinion is to let friends enjoy drink the way they want. Tastes differ for sure but.. having friends is the best drink of all. hope I didn’t offend anyone with this post 🙏

    Corks that don't fit

Hey Dylan. Just keep making wine. Buy stuff as you can afford it. I understand that completely. If you decide to stay in the craft you will buy more stuff “it’s never ending”. Dig that cork out man and make another batch. Enjoy!!!

    SOME PEOPLE

I don’t mean anything personal. I just made an assessment on your difficulty in this situation. From what I’ve read and seen on the news, the virus for what ever reasons, has been much more sever in the inner city than in the outlying towns. If social distance and masks matter at all then my...

    SOME PEOPLE

I feel you for sure! I like people but I have noticed since this happened early this year no one would look me in the eye at the stores. I get no smiles or conversations. 😢 Everyone is afraid. Me also. Yeah No Quarter some are selfish and won’t wear masks to protect others. You are...

    SOME PEOPLE

You are right. Anyone who has taken a microbiology class knows how futile it is to avoid all germs and especially those as small as a virus. But we do what we can with the tools we got and keep living until this thing passes by. I’ve seen Small pox, Polio and several virulent viruses. Hope I...

    SOME PEOPLE

Masks: If we are without clothes and I spit water on you, “you get wet!” If You are clothed “wearing a mask” and I spit water on you, “you are partially protected.” You get partially wet. If I wear a mask and spit on you, “YOU STAY DRY” and I look stupid by spitting on my own face. Masks help...

    SOME PEOPLE

Dawg, people died unnecessarily when this pandemic started. Drs didn’t know how to manage this disease. It was a new deal. Patients were sent home until they were critical and by that time most were beyond recovery. The learning curve has gone up. They now know early intervention is the...

    Poison cactus pear wine

Thanks for your post NoQuarter. I messed up some how. I’m glad yours turned out well so maybe there’s hope out there. Everyone in the know thinks it’s the pH. I can fix that. I’ll have to dump this last ten gallon batch. Breaks my heart because it does taste very good. Thanks again

    Poison cactus pear wine

Guess I’m foolish or maybe hardheaded. But your advise is good. Making some pineapple wine starting tomorrow. If I can’t get for sure answers on the cactus pear, I’m done with them. No one seems to know much about them but every part of the plant is edible is what the internet says. Thanks...

    Poison cactus pear wine

Sure Dawg send me your ground address and I’ll send you a half pint. I’m going into town tomorrow to send Rice Guy some. I advise caution if you decide to taste it. I used a pressure canner for the juice. I’ll send you both the wine and juice if you wish.

    Poison cactus pear wine

Dawg thanks for your post and following this thread. I canned the juice because I needed more time to pick and process more tunas to make the ten gallon batch I wanted to make. To harvest the juice I burned the stickers off, washed the fruit then crushed it. I boiled the crushed fruit with...

    Poison cactus pear wine

Live and learn. I’ve been canning for years also. I just didn’t think with juice for the wine I would have to cook as long. You guys are probably right. Thanks Dawg

    Poison cactus pear wine

Thanks for your reply I’m sending Rice Guy a sample of the canned juice to see if it’s botulism. Thanks for your interest.

Botulism would sure fit the description. Thanks again

    Poison cactus pear wine

Thanks Rice_Guy. You must be from deep SE Tx? In answer to your question- no the recipe didn’t call for lowering the pH. As to sanitization I was reasonably careful. Winter isn’t the time to pick pear here but I have a gallon of canned juice you can have if you send me your ground address and...

    Poison cactus pear wine

Thanks No Quarter for your response. Like you I have eaten the tunas for years with no effect on my health. being new to winemaking it is possible I guess for a bug to have slipped in.? this second batch should be definitive for me on cactus pear wine. I was VERY careful with sanitizing. One...
