What is this on Regent vine leaves

Hi guys. Thought I would update on this. I left the property a few years ago and took some cuttings from the vines which were growing strongly and were high yielding despite the leaves. The cuttings have grown ungrafted in my south London soil. Each year I observe a similar effect on the...

What is this on Regent vine leaves

Ah thanks, so it doesn't look like that after all on that basis!

What is this on Regent vine leaves

Thanks all, for the informed responses and links. I too suspect it might be leafroll from this, that seems to be the closest match. Regent vines are meant to have superior resistance to mildews and the like (which is why I selected them for the UK, given the temperate climate). As everyone...

What is this on Regent vine leaves

Hi guys. The vines are still with me but I seem to have the same problem this year. The vines were fine last year though and produced lots of fruit and growth. It's only a hobby for me and there's little chance of it spreading given I'm based in quite a built up area in London, so I'll carry on...

Mixed grapes and kit, MLF underway (oops?)

Hi all Just after a bit of advice on the above. The situation is that this year I let my young vines grow a few (only around 2kg or so) of grapes – I then: - Sterilised with a bit of a campden tablet - Topped up with grape juice concentrate from a wine kit - Added pectolase, then yeast...

What is this on Regent vine leaves

Just had a look my vines (I only have 3) and it seems they all have this to an extent - just removed these leaves, but it's probably not worth removing them if the virus is in the whole plant. Prob won't destroy them as there aren't any other vines in the area, and they seem pretty strong otherwise.

What is this on Regent vine leaves

I think it might be leaf roll disease (virus), which would be sad as apparently only cure is destruction of vines :(

What is this on Regent vine leaves

Hi all I had this come up on last year's growth too. Seems to affect some leaves, and canes in places. Doesn't seem to kill the leaf though - any ideas what it is? Vine is Regent, growing in London, UK. Thanks for any pointers, Tom

    A prunning observation

I did both an early prune (early December) and late prune (mid Feb) this year, in the UK. I kept the prunings from the late prune and planted them to see how they go - the buds on the cuttings are much more developed than those left on the vine - not sure whether it's a temperature thing (they...

    Young vine and spare buds

Great, thanks both - I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks also grapeman for your thread on the vineyard. Even though I have three vines, thanks to that thread I have about 15 successful cuttings that I'm hoping to plant out/give away as presents this year!

    Young vine and spare buds

Hi all I'm in my second year of vine growing in the UK (would you believe it) - they took very well last year. I cut them back to a few buds over winter so that this year I can focus on developing the trunks (going for a rod and spur system as they are against a wall). Unfortunately it's a...
