Bud break on the two "Delicious" variety vines I picked up late season on clearance at Lowe's last year! All my other muscadine vines have a a bit to go. Nice to see them join the bunch grapes, though!

Well, I'm not aiming for total control. Just something better than last summer's weed fest. I cleared out a large block of pampas grass where I've established many of my vines. Seems there were a lot of weeds underneath, waiting for their moment in the sun.

Anyone mulch with pine straw? Grapes or muscadines? I have a lot of pines on my property and had a terrible time with weeds last year. Soil pH is currently around 6.5.

Yeah I get that but what I mean is how are you getting the cordons from that main shoot? I've read (watched) a video where all they did was train that main shoot one way onto the trellis, then wait for a shoot to branch off near the wire to send the opposite direction for the other cordon. But...
