I have always done the same thing. I built a 10x12 shed a few years ago that will be the last thing standing in this neighborhood. 🤣 🤣

    Corks, and other bottle stoppers

My Portuguese floor corker is .... 40 1/2" to the top of the handle when fully extended; about 25" to the top of the hole above the the irises where you insert the cork.

    Corks, and other bottle stoppers

The standard Portuguese floor corker is for use on the floor while standing. The table top model is for use on a table top. It is too short to use on the floor unless you're on your knees. 🤣 I believe the floor model is by far the most common.

    Corks, and other bottle stoppers

I see the same issue once in a while with my Portuguese floor corker (bought new) and the 1 1/2" nomacorcs.. Doesn't seem to cause a problem though.

    Corks, and other bottle stoppers

No. 8 corks are simply too small to insure a good seal in most standard 750 ml wine bottles. No 9 regular corks (not nomacorc) will go into a 750 ml bottle with a double lever corker. A floor corker is much better and easier, but a double ever will work.

    Corks, and other bottle stoppers

It is better to sanitize corks in a corkador rather than soaking them. I use a crockpot, covered with plastic wrap, with a vegetable steamer inside to hold the corks. About a half inch of k-meta on the bottom.

    Corks, and other bottle stoppers

Good advice!! I switched from the double lever corker to the Portuguese floor corker a few years ago and what a huge difference it makes. It sure makes life a lot easier! I bought mine at LabelPeelers who had the best price at the time. But there are better deals out there now.

Finer Wine Kit Finer Wine Kits

I make a lot of chardonnay and for my money, the Winexpert chard is somewhat better than the FWK. I can't really put my finger om it, bit the WE chard just tastes better. FWK chard is not bad - it's just not as good.

Finer Wine Kit Finer Wine Kits

FWKs on sale at Lablepeelers today with "free" shipping. However, don't expect to save any money. The kits are 20% off, not the usual 40% or so and that more than nullifies any savings on the shipping cost - at least for me where I pay around $20 for shipping.

Why not go with granite? More expensive, yes. But looks really nice and takes a lot more abuse than laminate.
