Other Adding Cherries To Paklab Valpolicella Kit

Cannew, I bought Welch's White Grape Juice Concentrate (3 cans, or 'sleeves'), made from Niagra grapes. I let the concentrate thaw & reach room temp, then dumped it into the primary along with the Paklab juice, and filled the bucket up to the 6gal mark. My SG after stirring and letting it sit...

Other Adding Cherries To Paklab Valpolicella Kit

Hi Folks- My wife has decided that the Paklab Valpo kit is her favorite of the line. To my last one I added 1# of Zante Currants to a 6gal batch. It bottled at around 12.5% ABV with decent body. In researching the wine, I read that there should be a hint of cherries in the taste, which was...

Other Paklab Sauvignon Blanc Tweak Recipe

The various critiques that I've read of the Paklab kits usually complain of a 10-11% ABV and a 'thin' feel when processed to 6 gallons. Most people stop at either 5 or 5.5 gallons. That seems like a waste to me, so adding three cans of juice @ $1.50 per can seems like an inexpensive way to run a...

Other Paklab Sauvignon Blanc Tweak Recipe

Hi folks. My wife is a great SB fan, so I bought a Paklab kit to get her off my back. After reading all over the webs for a month, I've arrived at the following recipe and procedure - 1) Start the kit at full six gallons, and take my first SG reading using only the 'stock' ingredients. 2) after...

    Other Vino Italiano Redux-

I'm assuming that the concentrate is mixed & used to 'top off' the carboy at the fining statge? BTW, I started with 5.5 gallons and added a slurry made with 10oz of Zante Currants and a cup of the juice mix. Prior to adding the slurry, the SG was 1.07. Any problems with that number? Thanks!

    Other Vino Italiano Redux-

Hi folks... My wife bought me a Barolo kit from this company thru Amazon. After reading the buyers comments, sounds like everyone was fairly happy after they'd cut the water to 5.5/5 gallons, or added fruit. Understanding that this is my second kit and I don't yet feel comfortable deviating from...

    Rookie Corking Problems

Thanks for all the advice, folks. A floor corker is now at the top of my wino wish list. Looks like I'm in good shape; none of the corks have moved, they're just ugly.

    Rookie Corking Problems

Thanks for the heads up! Prior to today's extravaganza, I made a dry run with two bottles of water, and put them on the floor to cork. The results were much better than today, when I did all my work on the countertop. Looks like I didn't have enough 'oomph' at waist level. I hear that from my...

    Rookie Corking Problems

Hi Folks... We just bottled our first run of wine. We used an 'Island Mist Blackberry Cabernet' kit. All of our equipment came from a 'True Brew Gold Kit' that we received for Christmas at least 5 years ago, which contained 30 corks and a wing-lever corker. All went well with the process...
