MLF - How To Tell It's Going & 'Typical' Finish Times?

Great thread, WE5INELGR! I'm glad you started it....so I didn't have to! LOL I am in the same boat. I have made lots of wine from buckets and just recently decided to try MLF for the first time. Like you, I have tiny bubbles now, so it appears to be active, but I do not have any way to test...

    Wine storage

They do make 1 gallon glass jugs, with screw on tops, like the ones Carlo Rossi, etc are sold in. You could get some of those.

    Wild yeast - Juice pails

I almost always use pails, too. Packaged yeast is stronger, so your fermentation should be stronger, as well. Also, packaged yeast is bred on purpose for specific things, like red wine, to give you the results/flavors you want. Wild yeast is a bit of a gamble. I always toss packaged yeast into...

the fruit wines I made turned out light bodied

    Apple Wine... Now Apple Cider

Newbie to the site here! I love "hard cider" / "apple wine!" Fortunately for me, I live right near a farm that makes unpasteurized cider. They also make their own "hard cider"....technically Apple Wine, I guess. They make lots of flavors and always have free samples! :) It's up there...

    Hello from CT

Nice to see a bunch of local CT fellow drinkers....I mean home winemakers!! Where do you guys get your juice, Calli Bros? M&M in Hartford has their Italian juices in. I'm tempted to get another bucket, but I have 5 carboys full right now.

    Hello from CT

Thanks for the welcome, guys! I am in Burlington, CT - out in the sticks. Yeah, cost of living isn't easy in CT, but we do love the area we live in.

    Hello from CT

Been making wine since 2010. Started with a kit, but been mostly using juice buckets. Most of my wines come out great, but I'm looking to take the next step. Stumbled upon these forums and looks like there is a lot of good info here. I got plenty of questions ready!! LOL - Scott
