    No airlock bubbling

My son and I started doing wine kits about two and a half years ago. We're on our 14th kit. It's an RJS En Premier Super Tuscan. We're 8 days into primary fermentation, and this is the first kit that never bubbled through the air lock. On the good side, I believe, is that it smells normal, and...

    RJ Spagnols Gewurztraminer recommendation

Has anyone tried two or more different Gewurztraminer kits, and had a significant preference. I prefer mine on the spicier sider. Also, I notice RJS En Primeur has a Gewurztraminer Riesling. Is it more like what I know to be a Gewurztraminer (drier, spicier) or a Riesling (sweeter)? Thanks, Pete

WineXpert Amarone initial s.g. too low

So, I stirred frequently, and it rose throughout the day to 1.080. Adding the total 2 cups of simple syrup raised it to 1.091. What do you think - pitch the yeast now, or more simple syrup?

WineXpert Amarone initial s.g. too low

Stirring vigorously didn't change the reading. I used the required amount of water - up to the 23L level, prior to adding the skins. The kit does include 2 Chaptalisation packs to be added after 5-7 days. I'll check the readings again tonight. Thanks guys, Pete

WineXpert Amarone initial s.g. too low

Last night I started my 5th kit, my first WE Selections Amarone. During primary fermentation, after adding the skins and waiting 4 hours, I tested and got a reading of 1.07. The instructions said it should be 1.09-1.10. I haven't pitched the yeast yet. Any thoughts? Thanks, Pete

    Newbie airlock question

First batch of wine for me. I'm using Winexperts Vintners Best kit for chardonnay. So I've been fermenting for about a week, but haven't seen any bubbling in the airlock. I took a hydrometer reading and it appears to be 1.01 Any reason for concern? Thanks
