I came up with the same idea using a 1/2 racking cane filled with wine to see if you are low ever minimizing air exposure

If anyone is interested I do sell the bungs for this

Really all it is is the bung that fits your barrel and I make a 1/2 hole and slide your 1/2 racking cane down into the barrel and fill it up to the top with wine and add a cap to it as well

let me know if you need a custom bung made or not ?
