I am making my first batch of all-grape wine and I am absolutely loving it all. The learning is fun, and challenging, but it is so cool to come home to the smell of fresh fermenting grapes in the kitchen every day. My wife thinks it smells like "grape farts," which I guess technically it is, but I love it. I am so glad I took this leap and thanks for everyone on the forum who has helped. Also thanks to a new friend who has been doing it a long time and is holding my hand through this.
I am sure in a week or so I will be swearing and stressing about pressing and such, but for now I am loving it. This is the easy part. Punch down, take a reading, taste, repeat.
It is a Chilean Cab, starting SG 1.096(!!!) and pH 3.9 before adjustment.
I can't wait for the wine!
