I'm getting my filter setup today and will be filtering for the first time this weekend. I have a couple of questions... What kind of 1/2" pipe should I buy to add to the filter? What should I soak the filter cartridge in, kmeta + citric? Should I discard the first few ounces of wine filtered thru after the cartridges are soaked? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am busy right now - I will try and find threads that discuss this

In the mean time if you want you can PM me with your phone # and I can call you

Thanks Steve

No you do not have to have the pipe installed - it just makes it easier to use - so you do not have to tip it upside down at the end
Please check out these 3 threads for additional on vacuum pumps and filtering

I will soak the filters in a sulfite solution and then shake out any excess and then transfer from carboy to carboy. Then I am ready for bottling.

I hope this helps

Steve,

Due to tightening (really good) the filter housing (which I haven't been able to open - yet), I broke one of the barbed inlets on the filter. Are these available at Home Depot/Lowes?

All the hardware stores around me do not carry this - unless it is in brass

That is why I sold them in order to help others out - at my cost

If you cant find them locally - I have them in stock and it will not cost much at all to send them - just PM me

some home depots carry diffrent stocks...mine here sales the nylon barb fittings in all sizes, not sure why....
but one up in houston does not.......
