A South Georgia court room was filled with family and friends from both sides as the case of a stolen can of peaches was being heard by the court.
The judge asked the defendant "Did you in fact take the can of peaches?" The man answered "Yes sir, I was hungry and short on cash". "How many peaches were in the can?" asked the judge. "I believe that there were five in the can your Honor" replied the man. The judge then leaned over the bench, peered over his glasses and said "It is very important that you answer this question carefully as it will determine your sentence." "Yes sir" the man said. "How many peaches did you eat?" asked the judge. The man looked down and said "Sir, I am afraid that I ate all five of them." The judge quickly stated "I sentence you to one day for each peach that you ate". The man's wife quickly stood up and shouted " Judge, "He stole a can of peas too!"
