    WineXpert Wine Expert Ice Wine

Granny, No need to worry - as long as it tastes good that is all that matters. You just got more bang for the buck (bang for the chuck?) from yours than I got from mine. Likely because I was using my brew belt on my primary for another batch so my secondary may have gotten a bit colder than...

Mine was 1.058 prior to adding the F-pack. It was stable over several days and below the instruction cutoff of 1.060 so that is why I then added the F-pack. No worries, mine tastes great. I'm just surprised by the difference in SG drop.

I am surprised that your final SG is so low. I have a double batch of this which I am bottling this afternoon. Starting SG 1.152 @ 73 degrees. Final SG 1.058 @ 70 degrees. According to the instructions that came with the kit, bottling SG should be between 1.055 and 1.065. Using the calcs...

Mosti Mondiale La Bodega Port Question

We sampled this last night at George's bottling party and it was absolutely great. Joseph added some french oak which really added to the taste. You can see the details on George's wine log (#73). I can only imagine it will be like once it has been in the bottle for a while. Although...

    Mosti Mondiale Vinifera Noble Suggestions

Have people on this forum had success with the VN reds? I've heard good stories about the whites but not as much about the reds. I'm looking to make a red for quicker drinking while my En Primeurs, Crushendos and Cellar Crafts bulk age. I was thinking the Carmenere since it would not need the...

I filtered this today (took about 45 minutes with the Vinbrite gravity filter and was down to a trickle at the end) and snuck a few tastes along the way. It is really good but also incredibly sweet. Absurdly sweet. But if it was chilled it would be great.I will bottle this in two weeks and...

    WineXpert Wine Expert Ice Wine

I made a double batch of this starting on Thanksgiving. It was a beast to degas (by far the most CO2 of any wine I have made so far) and it is still dropping sediment like crazy. I have racked since adding the clarifiers twice and both times there was 1.5" of sediment at the bottom of the...

    RJ Spagnols Orange Blossom Muscat

Where do you buy your frosted 375 ml bottles? I don't see them on George's site... Thanks

Thanks for the advice appleman. I've done a lot of reading about the two kits you mentioned and I'm curious as to your opinion on how long they both need to age. Does the crushendo really need 3-5 years to peak? Are the renaissance kits really good at 6 months? I ask because with my MM AJ...

    Long time lurker finally joins

Hi all, Thought it was time to stop reading the forum and finally join. I've been making wine since early 2007 and got into the hobby when another forum member told me about George's shop. I've been hooked ever since. My first batch was a WE Red Burgundy (not great) followed by MM AJ...
