    First try with whole house filter

    I hope one of the more experienced members chimes in as I had a similar issue with air/foam the last time I tried to filter. I thought maybe it was the pressure release valve on the filter housing but have not had a chance to do any specific troubleshooting since then.

    Orchard Breezin Advice

    I added table sugar to the Breezin Sangria kit to bring it up to 1.08 and it turned out quite tasty, finished at .992 before adding in the full F-pack. I'd need to check my notes to see how much sugar I added

    using a micro butane torch for shrink tops??

    Tried hairdryer, not nearly hot enough (even on high). Tried boiling water, worked but made a mess. Then I picked up a $10 heat gun from Harbor Freight, works perfectly on low. If you turn it to high and get too close, it will start melting through--I imagine a butane torch would do this as well.

    Started my first 1 gallon batch of JAOM this afternoon. I forgot to take an SG reading before I added the yeast :slp I took one about 4-5 hours after I added the yeast (and it was already pretty active). The SG was 1.14 at that time. Does that sound about right? Or is the active...

    Taste Test, Not smooth?

    The first couple of kits I made this year (still a noob, but learning) suffered from insufficient degassing. This give them a carbonation bite. Could that be the lack of "smooth" they are experiencing? I've since tried the whip with a power drill & attaching the canister hose to my food vac...

    Wine labels... and removal

    My biggest problem with removing labels is that even after soaking for days you still have some with a stubborn residue. I hated scraping. After researching this somewhere (maybe this forum?), I read that Mr. Clean Magic Erasers would help. It did, amazingly so!

    Help with sealing foil capsules

    This is what I did after trying a blow dryer (laughable attempt, did nothing), boiling water (messy & if you do this, don't put labels on first...). $9 at Harbor Freight & worth every penny. Just find the right distance and don't hold it too long in one spot or you'll melt them.
