    Ready to design my label

You can do a lot with Adobe, but the cost for the full version is very steep. I use MS Word for many projects like this, and also Adobe Photo Shop Elements. Elements has many of the basic features from the full version of Adobe Photo Shop, but can usually be found for less that $100. But...

Secrets of a long happy marriage

A good marriage can be summed up in one simple phrase. "Happy Wife - Happy Life"

    Water Wine

Wouldn't that just be like a mild rum? Many clear rums are just distilled sugar cane & water.

    Water Wine

Okay, So I keep seeing people reference adding "water wine" to top off their batches. What is water wine?

    Where to start

Well, we bottled the blackberry last week and were thrilled with the results so far. I'm sure it will improve with age, but overall it is very drinkable and something both of us will enjoy. For the next batch, I may try some light oak and I believe it would benefit from some tannins. Possibly...

    Skeeter Pee bottling alternatives

I bottled my last batch in old 10 oz soda bottles with crown caps. Nice serving size and any something most people to see anymore. And they fit in the antique Pepsi machine we have in our rec room !!

    Stupid Rabbits

Sprinkle bloodmeal as a barrier around your vines and they won't cross it. But, you do have to reapply regularly as it gets absorbed into the ground. Or, try a beagle; they're bred to hunt rabbits!

    !!!IT MIGHT BE HOT!!!

I haven't made it, but I did purchase a bottle of garlic wine from a local winery a couple of years ago. Not much for drinking in my opinion, but it was great for cooking up some saute'ed mushrooms to lay across a nice steak. I would think some pepper based wines would be tasty as well.

    Can I do this?

Sounds like I may have a good spot picked out at this point. Thanks for the input and reassurance. Now it's time to finish cleaning out the area and getting my plans finalized. Looks like I have a new project! John

    Can I do this?

I currently hold the humidity around 60% throughout the basement in the summer months, so I know that's doable. My biggest concern was having enough temp for fermentation without having too much heat for aging. Mold hasn't been a problem in the workshop I constructed in a similar area. For...

    Can I do this?

I'm looking into converting a room in our basement (cellar) into a multipurpose wine/beer room, but I'm not sure how well this would work. I'm starting with an OLD damp basement where the walls are known to seep and the floor sweats all summer. Winter temperatures can run as low as 55° and in...

    The Un-Cola

Okay, I ended up bottling my batch last night. The odor had faded, but not completely gone away; but it tastes great. I thought, what's the worst thing that could happen, I end up pouring it out of the bottles and wasting a few bottle caps? I ended up with about 24 in 7UP bottles, about...

    How warm is too warm

Thought/hope so. Could that be my problem? And if so, can it be corrected?

    How warm is too warm

Here's an update. The odor has now been described as "dirty sweatsocks". The taste is great if you hold your nose. Any suggestions? I did find another site that listed a potential cause for this exact ordor as not adding Kmeta with the sorbate. I followed the recipe here and added them...
