So I moved one of my batches from the primary fementer...to a secondary carboy....fermenting seems to have stopped....i checked with a hydrometer...it reads .990....so now im degassing, yesturday i used a drill with a mix piece for 30-45 minutes..then put the airlock on...checked today, there's...
I got a packet of this clearing agent called claro kc....comes with a packet of KIESELSOL and a larger packet of chitosan.
I only have 1 gallon carboy that needs to be cleared soon of red wine.......do i need to use ALL this clearing agent? or can i use half of each packet and use the other...
Is here what my recipe was:
1 gallon carboy
4 cans of welches concentrate followed by 4 cans of water
added sugar till hydromete read 1.110 SG...then topped off with water.
Added in 1 packet of EC1118 yeast
stired...shaked and done.

Yea i decided to only make 1 gallon...i have another gallon of the same stuff thats been going about 5 days now.....I just finished making the new batch...SG 1.100, 4 cans of welches...and half a cup of sugar added...with lalvin ec 1118...

I've never done it yet, going to have to soon. I'm going to make something out of a plastic coat-hanger..put it into shape so it acts like a mixer...and attached it to a drill to draw all the gas out of the wine. Do it for about 30-45 minutes until i dont see anymore signs of co2
Hey guys, So i've got a gallon of pure welches grape juice turning into wine right now...
what im wonder is....I wanna do another batch but make this next one 5 gallons. ...but i dont want to buy 5 gallons worth of welches...that can be pricey around where i live...how can i go about doing...
when you say top the carboy up does that mean to put some water in it to bring it closer to the top? im gunna go out tomorrow and buy another 1 gallon carboy and rack it into that once the bubbles stop completely. let it clear up.
well im not sure how to make it go slower...i just thought what i did was normal. I do have proper equipment. I have an airlock on the carboy right now since the fermentation is slowing down.
So I decided to try and make wine...being a nooby i decided to try the welches juice one first.
I put 1 gallon of juice in a jug, added some sugar till the reading on my hydrometer was 1.100...put in the yeast, and let nature do it's work.

Hey guys this is going to be the first time I've ever made my own sort of wine...my question is...I have beer yeast...will this work? It just sais on the packet beer yeast....came with a IPA 6.8% kit i bought at the store.
