Go to your local recycle center or dump. I get about 2 or 3 every
Saturday. Or you can buy a gallon of wine and drink it while your wine
is in its primary. a gallon of cheap chianti is about $8. Ask any
friends if they drink wine by the gallon to. My next door neighbor has
been throwing them out for about a year before I discovered this. I
went to the dump a few weeks ago and asked 1 of theguys that works
there to save me bottles and the next Sat. I discovered that he saved
me 114 bottles for me. That works out to be $133 worth of bottles where
I used to buy them. I used to pay $14 for a box of 12.I now have about
500 bottles in my basement and about 30 gallon jugs and 7 3 liter jugs
all free. The 3 liter jugs are great for when you rack the gallon as
you wont have to top ur with water or a simliar wine. Good luck hunting.

Carlo Rossi was out choice for one gallon jugs...one day I am going to try some one gallon recipes....

Eduk8or,

I buy 4L jugs of cheap wine (usually a variety of a wine Ineed to top up a carboy) and like Wade, when I started I drank it while the wine wasin the primary. I started out with one and now have about 10 or more along with 10 or so 3L jugs as well (all used for topping and drinking). I'm not too big a wine snob to drink a $10 jug of wine

I find it is not too bad if it is sweetened up a bit and over ice. Also it made me feel better about my wine. Mine wine tasted a lot better than this first time out. My dump doesn't let us snoop but I didn't think of going there and seeing if they will set some aside for me. The couple local restaurants don't seem to receptive here either.
