Brand new, straight out of the bag. I've never sanitized corks, though I guess I might do so if they were old and stored in uncertain conditions. I always store bottles on point in cases and haven't generally had a problem.
I am not familiar with this term. Can you explain? Thanks.

Since I don’t want to use sodium metabisulphate in my wine and I have a bunch of it, I use it to sanitize my corks. Of course I want to keep them dry so I mix sodium metabisulphate, pour it into a small bucket and place my corks in a steaming basket to keep it above the solution. Put the cover on and the gasses sanitize. At least that’s what I have been told and been doing it for years with no issues.
