Appears to be a Ferment on Premises, so you're not really learning how to make wine (at least not all of the steps). But $64 for a Vintners Reserve kit made for you is a good deal. Don't expect the best wine, especially if you choose a red.

BTW, which variety did you choose?

sounds like an ad to me..

and all the other folks bragging about their deals from other vendors, don't sound like ads? At least there's no link with it, that might be a spammer's mission.

BTW, on some of the other non-wine making forums that I visit, it is very common for folks to post deals that they have found. One such forum even has a "Deals" sub-forum where people are encouraged to post the specials.

I chose to do the Cab Sauv... It will be my first time, so my expectation are kind of based off of what i have, read, heard, etc.

Any tips?

The Vintners Reserve is a very cheap kit and will make a pretty thin red wine IMO. The only reason I would buy one of these thinner body kits would be to blend with a fruit wine to make something like a Blackberry Cab.
