When I suggested that you use a penny, I was only talking within the realm of a bench test to determine what issue you may have.
When it comes to correcting the issue (if copper turns out to be the cure), I would recommend that you use Redueless.
The issue with using pennies, copper pipe, or even copper scouring wool, is that you can not really control exactly how much copper makes its way into the wine. With a product like redueless, which is dead yeast impregnated with copper, you get a far more efficient and controlled dosage.
