Update on the RJS Carmenere:
I filtered (5 micron) and bottled on February 14, and left it until July. I started trying it over the past month and am very pleased with the overall balance and flavor! I will be buying another of these.

One question: It was clear as a bell after filtering, but now each bottle has sediment in it. The sediment isn't gritty, and dissolves if I rub it between my fingers. Does anyone know what this is? I back-sweetened half and left half alone, and both versions have it.

Thanks!

Sounds like tartrate crystals. Nothing wrong with that - commercial wines get them too. You can cold stabilize to try and reduce/minimize it.

its been my experience that the grape skins kits tend to drop fine sediment for quite awhile and then there are the crystals. both of which are harmless. These kits are excellent. Try some of the others. You won't be disappionted.

cheers
