I need to run a bunch of A/O (aeration oxidation) tests. I am wondering if the same reaction solution can be reused in multiple tests or if the additions of Sodium Hydroxide will throw off subsequent tests.

In the past I have always just created a new reaction solution for each test. Just looking to save some time.

thanks,

Chris

No it can't, the peroxide which reacts with the SO2 to trap it in solution will "run out of gas" so to speak.

OK, thanks a bunch Mike. I was hoping "The Chemist" would answer this one.

The peroxide is so cheap anyway. Quick rinse with water, shake out any excess and refill. Best way to speed it up would be to have a second set of beakers so you could clean up one set while you were waiting your 15mins sparge time on another sample. You could prepare the peroxide vessel but not the wine and phosphoric obviously. That way you could be ready to go with the next sample a little quicker.
