I just had to replace our whole house water filter since it decided to spring a leak. I purchased a new GE one at home depot for 15.00 dollars. It comes with a little device that has a blue LED that once you put the batteries in it will start blinking after 90 days to remind you to change the filters. It is not part of the filter and it has a magnetic back and you can put it anywhere. It has a reset button to reset the timer for another 90 days. Since I make all of my wine (except dragons blood) in the Fall from Regina grape juice i rack all of my wines at the same time. I placed the little led reminder among my carboys in the basement to remind me when it is time to rack.

If you wanted to use the filter housing to filter your wine you would need to use a 3/4 x 1/4 reducer.
