Can anyone tell me ....on the back of the Red star wine yeast it states it makes up to 5 gallons of wine.
So am i suppose to use the whole package in the 1 gallon batch:slp?
or do i only add enough to start the fermentation????

A packet will make a gallon or 5 gallons. I have used a tablespoon full to make gallon batches when I feel a little frugal. Don't know if that helps?

I just read a forum in another area and they are saying to use the full package of the yeast. I did on my previous batch of strawberry wine. Guess i will do the same on this and learn from my mistakes. ????What you think???

Yup yeast is not expensive, user up! And keep good notes :)

Me personally, I would use about half in a 1 gallon batch. Then use the other half in another 1 gallon batch. But like others said, yeast is cheap.

If you put one yeast cell in your must, assuming it lives, you will still get the same result as if you put 15 packs in. The yeast cells multiply to fill the environment.

A full pack is used to assure a viable colony for quick fermentation.
