oak chips cloudy?

couple questions about oak chips, I just added them to my 15.5 gallon wine keg... no cheese cloth just dumped them in... do they ever sink or do they always float?? also my wine was perfectly clear will some particles from the oak sometimes cloud up the wine?

You are fine. They will sink in time.

Yeah - i agree. I added oak chips before and it did the same thing. Just taste it until you get the desired taste and rack off the chips. Then let sit for addl clearing.

Yup, You do not want to go too long (with chips). I find that they can actually make the wine too bitter.
