I really did not know where this post should be so I put it here.

I am new to kits and wine making in general and am fond of the StoneHill Winery's Norton (This is a robust, deeply colored, dry red wine with distinctive Norton varietal character. Aged for one year in French, Hungarian & American oak barrels, this wine shows a complex mix of fruit, spice and oak. Comparable to a Shiraz.")
Looking for a kit that would compare to this Norton. Any help would be great

Hello and welcome to the forums, good to meet you buddy ol' pal. Now that we got the formalities out of the way we can move onto the important parts, the winemaking ;). The wine you have described sounds like a bit more complex of a wine, especially if it is being aged for any sort of extended period in oak. I assuming you, like most of us, like to keep on eye on prices while still making a good wine. So, with that understanding in mind I feel like I should point you toward the Vinifera Noble kits, especially these two:

I do believe the second pick would be a closer match to the wine you are looking for.

Or possibly this one made by Cellar Craft:

I haven't yet tried the Malbec, but the winery/restaurant I work at seems to do pretty well selling it and people do enjoy it.

I second Scuba and his Vinifera Noble suggestions.

I have a Sangiovese going right now....been bulk ageing for approx three months....one word....stunning! The fruit character and taste is great...

Same with Cellar Craft....a lot of luck with those....both VN and CC kits can be consumed early but each continues to get better and better good luck

PAwine: Do you know what blend they put into the Sangiovese? The winery/resturant I work at makes a Sangiovese that sells very well and is quite popular in our sangrias.

Sangiovese is a specific red grape best known as the major component of the popular Italian blendChianti.

not sure of the actual blend!

I picked this VN kit belcause I wanted a early drinker (comparatively speaking). I have tried the CC 5 and 6 wwek kits as well as some others and I can't say enough about the taste of this one. This was my first VN, but it won't be my last.

I have 4 reds going right now, plus one bottled, but I think my next VN may be one of the whites..
