Wow what a coincidence Dan !
I just did the same thing this weekend with approx 12 cases of bottles. I really like to try the cheese wax ! I just was inpatient at this time - I just used a tin can and a propane stove and a bent spoon
The one thing you need to make sure that the wax is defintley hot enough - that it runs pretty freely ( it is alot easier when waxing )
 
no it can also be chese wax - which has a lower boiling point and is defintley cheaper, just a little softer

from Doug at brew and wine supply stated on a similiar thread -
I stock black, red and yellow/clear, its not the bright yellow you see on cheddar but something like a light yellow

I tried regular wax before and it did not work very well at all !! I forgot all the details - sorry
