I get all done making a batch of wine .when cleaning up equipment i found the bottom of hydrometer. so couple small pieces of glass in wine somewhere.
do you throw away or when racking hope it is left on bottom with sediment?
The pieces of glass are heavy so they would sink to the bottom of the carboy. What you could do when racking is to keep your racking cane well above the sediment to make sure you don't pick up any glass. With the remainder of the wine you could run it through a filter as was suggested previously.
I would do as others posted carefully rack off with a siphon but mave a very fine mesh pouch attached to the end of your hose, perhaps the toes of your wifes nylons.
