How much head space is necessary when you start mlf and how long should you mlf for?

When should I add raisins or bananas for mouthfeel?
 
MLF is not vigorous production of CO2 so you want to keep it topped up. I would assume raisins and bananas are best added in the primary. Are you adding them to a red grape wine?
 
Yes. I have never added anything before but have read many posts of people on here that have. What is your opinion?
 
Depends. What kind of grapes and where are they from? I would tend to not add them to a vinifera grape wine. But fruit wines may benefit.
 
I have 3 gal apricot wine aging now. I boiled 5 cut-up ripe bananas, skins and all for 20 min and used the resulting liquid to melt the sugar to boost sg when putting this wine together. It has been aging about 8 months now. I just tasted it the other day it has a good mouth feel.

Okay thanks. I was thinking about adding them to my Malbec, zinfendel,and Italian Cabernet Sauvignon.
