I am sharing information I saw on Facebook.

Some may find this interesting. FBV operates the commercial and non-commercial wine competitions at the Asheville Wine and Food Festival. For those of you in North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina or Virginia you might find this event interesting. Several of our judges are AWS certified and we think we offer a quality service. We also just completed the cider competition at CiderFestNC.
Every winemaker seeks input about the quality of their wines. For commercial wines the market provides feedback as consumers buy or fail to buy a wine. But what resources do amateur winemakers have? On January 17th the French Broad Vignerons (FBV) will offer amateur winemakers a chance to have experienced wine evaluators taste their wine and provide feedback. For a fee of $10 a bottle, amateur winemakers can submit their wines for evaluation. Each wine will be tasted by trained panels of experienced evaluators who will then provide feedback to help the winemaker understand the strengths of the wine they have created. There will be no awards just feedback.
Those amateur winemakers interested in participating may cut/paste/print the registration form from the bottom of the Evaluation Page found on the FBV website - frenchbroadvignerons.org. The form will be available after December 1st. All forms must be received by FBV no later than January 5th. Wine submissions must be made no later than January 10 to the designated collection point. Wine will be collected and prepared for the tasting on the 17th. Results of the tasting will be mailed to the winemaker shortly thereafter.
This represents a new opportunity for amateur winemakers to hone their skills as they receive quality feedback. The program is offered as a way to support the growth of home winemaking and to help individuals determine the quality of their efforts. All wines will be tasted in a blind manner and the evaluators will not know who winemaker was.
