I have a friend or two I'd like to mail my first wine making attempt to. I called the US Post Office and they said they do not allow you to mail wine through them. What about UPS?

Do not mail with the US postal service. It is a federal offense.
Use FedEx or UPS. If they ask whats in the box you can tell them its vinegar or whatever. If they don't ask, don't tell! I go to either Kinko's or Staples to mail my packages.
