I bought one of the titration kits from Midwest. I used it the other day for the first time and have a question. I had a Welches White that was high PH and low acid according to the kit. I followed the directions and got my PH and acid where I want it. My question is the kit says I should find my end point at PH of 8.2 then do my calculations and to "enjoy the fun color my wine becomes". The kit however comes with no Phenolthailine to use as an indicator and the instructions come with no mention of it. Am I correct in assuming it's a flaw in the directions? The math checked out fine, but the mention of color change bugs me. Here is a copy of the instructions. Thanks

If your using a pH meter you don't need to add any indicator. That's the beauty of the pH meter. It takes ALL of the guess work out of it. Your endpoint is at pH 8.2 which is the exact point where Phenolphthalein changes color.

Ok, thanks. I guess it's just a goof them mentioning a color change.
