    Press Basket

Yeah, there is a local woodworking shop near by and I was told that they could replace the slats, but I was hoping to keep the old basket and put it on an even older press that I have and use it just for show. Might have to go with putting a straining bag inside. Oh well, Thanks all!

    Press Basket

Anyone know of any place that sells replacement baskets for grape press? Some time ago, I googled it and got a hit, but now I can not find any place that just sells the basket. The press that I have is older than I am. It belonged to an old neighbor who was making wine as long as I can...

    Rye Bread

Two old guys, one 80 and one 87, were sitting on their usual park bench one morning. The 87 year old had just finished his morning jog and wasn't even short of breath. The 80 year old was amazed at his friend's stamina and asked him what he did to have so much energy? The 87 year old said...

    Naked

Wife gets naked and asks hubby, 'What turns you on more, my pretty face or my sexy body?' Hubby looks her up and down and replies, 'Your sense of humor!

    Wife

I woke up this morning at 8 am, and could sense something was wrong. I got downstairs and found the wife face down on the kitchen floor, not breathing! I panicked. I didn't know what to do. Then I remembered McDonald's serves breakfast until 10:30 am.

    Black Rot

We have had so much rain here in central Illinois that black rot has already taken over. Saw my first Japanese beetle today, but with rain and thunder storms in the forecast for the next seven days, it won't do any good to spray. I think this is worse than last year.

    Frontenac Gris Grapes

Frontenac gris were cut back and transplanted 3 weeks ago and they are already budding out. Didn't think that they would come around so soon.

    Frontenac Gris Grapes

A little over two years ago, I planted a row of Niagara grapes. Two plants out of the row, did not look right, so when I let them grow grapes last summer, they definitely were not Niagara. I sent photos and descriptions of the plants to the University of Minnesota and they confirmed that the...

    Thanks so much!

    Transplanting Concords

Any idea when and if I can transplant some Concord plants. I planted 50 Concords last May and I have about ten that I'd like to move. I'm in central Illinois where the temperature yesterday was 56 and today it's 27. Do I need it to be warmer to transplant and how big of a hole should I dig...

Diff Results on Root Grape Cuttings

I sure feel your pain RedSun, I go through this cutting ritual every year and still can't get things to root. You probably couldn't find better advice than what you get from Grapeman, but it's just hard to figure out what is wrong in a chat session. If he were to walk in here, he'd probably be...

    Engineering 101

Two engineering students were biking across a university campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?" The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her...

    Dad Is Horrified

A father put his three-year-old daughter to bed, told her a story, and listened to her prayers ,which ended by saying: "God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma, and goodbye Grandpa." The father asked, "Why did you say goodbye Grandpa?" The little girl said, "I don’t know daddy...

    Wyoming Vineyard

Had some snow yesterday in the Riverton, IL area, but the sun came out in the afternoon and it's now all gone. Been having some serious deer issues this year. First year in 4 that the deer are going through my trellis wires. So far, this is the 4th time that they have damaged the wires .

    Post a photo, any photo

A couple of photos taken last week of the St. James Winery vineyard just outside of St. James, Mo. Have never seen so many Concord vineyards as in this area. Thought I was in heaven.
