    Found a vine

I was clearing a fence line of unwanted trees and found this grape vine. The vines are at least 25' long. Took some pulling to get them out of a cedar and a shingle oak tree. I put the trellis up this morning, it wasn't there!

    Bottled wine storage question

What is the proper way to store bottled wine? Laying down or standing up? Recently I've opened wine that I've purchased and kept for around one year and two of them have been bad. One, I first noticed because the cork came out with almost no effort. These are wines that I've tasted at...

    Free labor!

I am new to growing grapes. In one of my books I’ve read it says some vineyards have volunteers come in and pick the grapes. WOW! Just imagine if volunteers came in and put in my trellis and planted my grapes! Just kidding. Seriously. If you are located in Southern Iowa, Northern...

    Starting my vineyard

Went to a garden seminar a week ago yesterday and one of the workshops was on growing grapes. Talked it over with my wife and visited with a couple that have a vineyard and winery and here we are.
